• Mavimpi Alimentation Saine
Nos activités agricoles sont localisées au cœur de la forêt tropicale du MAYOMBE. L’accès aux diverses plantations est un enjeu majeur, sur un réseau de pistes en latérite, et particulièrement difficile pendant les 2 saisons de pluie. Il n’est possible qu’en moto. Disposer d’une flotte de motos en bon état est un enjeu logistique vital pour le développement de nos activités.
Les dons dont notre association a bénéficié en 2024 nous ont permis d’acquérir deux motos supplémentaires, en ce faisant d’accroître nos capacité de production de produits agricoles au bénéfice des planteurs et des consommateurs.
EN — Mavimpi Healthy Food
Our farming activities are located in the heart of the MAYOMBE rainforest. Access to the various plantations is a major challenge, on a network of laterite tracks, and particularly difficult during the 2 rainy seasons. It is only possible by motorcycle. Having a fleet of motorcycles in good condition is a vital logistical challenge for the development of our activities.
The donations received by our association in 2024 enabled us to acquire two additional motorcycles, thereby increasing our capacity to produce agricultural products for the benefit of growers and consumers.

Onze landbouwactiviteiten bevinden zich in het hart van het MAYOMBE regenwoud. De toegang tot de verschillende plantages is een grote uitdaging, via een netwerk van laterietpaden die vooral moeilijk zijn tijdens de 2 regenseizoenen. Het is alleen mogelijk per motorfiets. Het beschikken over een vloot motoren in goede staat is een essentiële logistieke uitdaging voor de ontwikkeling van onze activiteiten.
Dankzij de donaties die onze vereniging in 2024 ontving, konden we twee extra motoren aanschaffen, waardoor we onze capaciteit om landbouwproducten te produceren ten behoeve van boeren en consumenten konden vergroten.

• Mavimpi Equipements Médicaux
Notre association a récemment pu faire parvenir à l’hôpital de Kangu un envoi de matériel médical crucial pour la prise en charge des nouveau-nés. Grâce à la mobilisation de nos partenaires et de nos donateurs, une table chauffante pour nouveau-né ainsi que deux lampes à photothérapie (bilirubine) ont été livrées sur place.
Ces équipements permettront d’améliorer les soins des tout-petits, en particulier pour les bébés prématurés ou souffrant d’ictère néonatal.
À cela s’ajoute l’envoi de matériel de chirurgie et de soins d’urgence pour nouveau-nés et jeunes enfants, afin de soutenir les équipes médicales locales dans la gestion des situations critiques dès les premières heures de vie.
EN — Mavimpi Medical Equipment
Our association was recently able to send a consignment of medical equipment crucial to the care of newborn babies to the Kangu hospital. Thanks to the mobilization of our partners and donors, a warming table for newborns and two phototherapy lamps (bilirubin) were delivered to the hospital.
This equipment will help to improve care for toddlers, particularly premature babies and those suffering from neonatal jaundice.
We have also sent surgical and emergency care equipment for newborns and young children, to support local medical teams in managing critical situations from the very first hours of life.
NL— Mavimpi Medische apparatuur
Onze vereniging heeft onlangs een zending medische apparatuur naar het ziekenhuis in Kangu kunnen sturen, die van cruciaal belang is voor de zorg voor pasgeboren baby’s. Dankzij de inspanningen van onze partners en donateurs zijn een verwarmingstafel voor pasgeborenen en twee lampen voor fototherapie (bilirubine) aan het ziekenhuis geleverd.
Deze apparatuur zal helpen om de zorg voor zeer jonge kinderen te verbeteren, met name voor premature baby’s en baby’s die lijden aan neonatale geelzucht.
Daarnaast is er chirurgische apparatuur en apparatuur voor spoedeisende hulp voor pasgeborenen en jonge kinderen gestuurd om lokale medische teams te ondersteunen bij het omgaan met kritieke situaties vanaf de eerste levensuren.

• Mavimpi Prothèses
Alexis et Jean, amputés respectivement à la suite à une infection sévère de sa jambe et à un accident de voiture, ont été appareillés en été 2024 et début 2025 de prothèses tibiales confectionnées par notre partenaire PROTHEA. Émouvant d’assister à leurs premiers pas.
MAVIMPI s’organise pour appareiller 4 nouveaux.elles patient.e.s. c’est une nouvelle étape dans notre démarche d’augmenter progressivement ce nombre.
Nous souhaitons ainsi accroître notre expérience, avec pour objectif partagé avec PROTHEA de prendre des dispositions pour réduire significativement le coût total d’appareillage, depuis la prise en charge des patient.e.s jusqu’à leur rééducation.
Cette démarche implique de manière structurée tous les acteurs de la santé au Mayombe, à savoir l’hôpital de Kangu, les médecins et centres de santé délocalisés; ainsi que les tradipraticiens motivés.
EN — Mavimpi Prosthetics
Alexis and Jean, amputees respectively following a severe leg infection and a car accident, were fitted in summer 2024 and early 2025 with tibial prostheses made by our partner PROTHEA. It was moving to witness their first steps.
MAVIMPI is organizing to fit 4 new patients. It’s another step in our drive to gradually increase this number.
Our aim is to increase our experience, with the shared objective of taking steps with PROTHEA to significantly reduce the total cost of fitting, from patient care through to rehabilitation.
This approach involves, in a structured way, all the motivated players in the Mayombe health sector, i.e. the Kangu hospital, doctors and local health centers, as well as traditional practitioners.
NL— Mavimpi Prothesen
Alexis en Jean, geamputeerden na respectievelijk een ernstige beeninfectie en een auto-ongeluk, kregen in de zomer van 2024 en begin 2025 tibiale prothesen van onze partner PROTHEA. Het was ontroerend om getuige te zijn van hun eerste stappen.
MAVIMPI organiseert de plaatsing van prothesen voor 4 nieuwe patiënten. Dit is een volgende stap in ons streven om dit aantal geleidelijk te verhogen.
Op deze manier hopen we onze ervaring te vergroten met als doel, samen met PROTHEA, stappen te ondernemen om de totale kosten van de interventie aanzienlijk te verlagen, vanaf de opname van de patiënt tot en met zijn revalidatie.
Bij deze aanpak worden alle gemotiveerde spelers in de gezondheidszorg in Mayombe op een gestructureerde manier betrokken, namelijk het Kangu Hospital, de artsen en gezondheidscentra in het gebied, evenals traditionele beoefenaars.

• Mavimpi Environnement
Nous poursuivons la multiplication de pépinières de palmiers nains délocalisées dans les plantations, et avons planté conformément à notre objectif annuel, 600 palmiers nains, d’une hauteur de 5 à 7 mètres, par rapport aux environ 17 mètres et plus pour les palmiers traditionnels.
L’objectif de ce projet est double. Il vise à protéger l’environnement en combattant la déforestation de la forêt du MAYOMBE, et l’exploitation de palmiers moins consommateurs d’eau.
Par ailleurs, leur exploitation est beaucoup moins dangereuse pour les cueilleurs de noix de palme: de nombreux accidents dramatiques de chute de palmiers sont à déplorer chaque année.
Enfin, ces palmiers nains sont plus productifs et favorisent la croissance de notre production.
EN — Mavimpi Environment
We are continuing to multiply the number of dwarf palm nurseries in the plantations, and have planted planted, in line with our annual target, 600 dwarf palms, between 5 and 7 meters high, compared with 17 metres and more for traditional palms.
The aim of this project is hreefold. It aims to protect the environment by combating deforestation in the MAYOMBE forest, and the use of palm trees that consume less water.
In addition, the harvesting of these trees is far less dangerous for the palm nut pickers. Dramatic accidents involving falling palm trees happen every year.
Last but not least, these dwarf palms are more productive and encourage the growth of our production.
NL— Mavimpi Omgeving
We blijven het aantal kwekerijen van dwergpalmen op de plantages uitbreiden en hebben, in lijn met onze jaarlijkse doelstelling, 600 dwergpalmen van 5 tot 7 meter hoog geplant, in lijn met onze jaarlijkse doelstelling.
Het doel van dit project is drieledig. Het is gericht op de bescherming van het milieu door de ontbossing in het MAYOMBE-bos tegen te gaan, en palmbomen te gebruiken die minder water verbruiken.
Bovendien is het oogsten van deze bomen veel minder gevaarlijk voor de palmnotenplukkers. Dramatische ongelukken gebeuren elke jahr. Tot slot zijn deze dwergpalmbomen productiever en stimuleren ze de groei van onze productie.

• Mavimpi Formations
En partenariat avec des institutions telles que HELMo, ISTM de Tshela et ITM de Kangu, l’initiative de formation des enseignants en soins infirmiers, notamment dans le domaine des soins aux nouveau-nés, est opérationnelle depuis septembre 2024. Cette formation permet de promouvoir l’autonomie des professionnels locaux en leur offrant des compétences de haut niveau pour améliorer la qualité des soins.
En février 2025, 3 enseignants sont venus du Mayombe à HELMo pour renforcer leurs connaissances dans le domaine de la pédiatrie et néonatalogie. Ils ont assisté à des cours de formation initiale et de spécialisation en pédiatrie et néonatalogie, et également accompagné des équipes soignantes à l’hôpital du Montlégia à Liège.
Le témoignage d’un professeur de l’Institut Technique Médical » (ITM) de Tshela est source de motivation pour toute l’équipe :

EN — Mavimpi Training
In partnership with institutions such as HELMo, the ISTM of Tshela, and the ITM of Kangu, the initiative to train nursing educators—particularly in the field of neonatal care—has been operational since September 2024. This training promotes the autonomy of local professionals by providing them with high-level skills to improve the quality of care.
In February 2025, three teachers from Mayombe came to HELMo to strengthen their knowledge in pediatrics and neonatology. They attended courses in both initial training and specialization in pediatrics and neonatology, and also accompanied healthcare teams at the Montlégia Hospital in Liège.
The testimony of a professor from the Medical Technical Institute (ITM) of Tshela is a source of motivation for the entire team:

NL— Opleiding
In samenwerking met instellingen zoals HELMo, het ISTM van Tshela en het ITM van Kangu is het initiatief tot opleiding van docenten in verpleegkunde, in het bijzonder op het gebied van neonatale zorg, sinds september 2024 operationeel. Deze opleiding bevordert de autonomie van lokale professionals door hen hooggekwalificeerde vaardigheden aan te reiken om de kwaliteit van de zorg te verbeteren.
In februari 2025 kwamen drie docenten uit het Mayombe naar HELMo om hun kennis op het gebied van pediatrie en neonatologie te verdiepen. Ze volgden lessen binnen de initiële opleiding en specialisatiecursussen in pediatrie en neonatologie, en begeleidden ook zorgteams in het Montlégia-ziekenhuis in Luik.
Het getuigenis van een professor van het Medisch Technisch Instituut (ITM) van Tshela is een bron van motivatie voor het hele team:
